Why Concrete for Outdoor Kitchens?

Outdoor kitchens take more abuse than interior ones — direct sun, temperature swings, rain, grease, and heat from the grill. Concrete handles all of it without warping, fading, or delaminating. Compared to tile (grout cracks), wood (rots), or stucco (chips), a concrete outdoor kitchen surround is a permanent installation that improves with age. GFRC's weight advantage makes it feasible for elevated decks and rooftop applications.

BBQ Surround & Enclosures

The BBQ surround — the structural enclosure that houses the grill, side burners, and storage — is the core element of any outdoor kitchen. We produce GFRC surround panels in any architectural style: smooth modern, rustic board-formed, Mediterranean plaster look, or stone texture. Panels are dimensioned to your grill cutout specifications and installed over a standard steel stud or CMU frame. All cutouts for grill openings, access doors, and vent locations are coordinated in shop drawings before production.

Outdoor Bar Tops & Countertops

Outdoor concrete bar tops and countertops are produced the same way as interior countertops — cast to your exact dimensions, edge profile, and integral color. For outdoor use, we apply a penetrating sealer plus UV-stable topcoat at the factory. Standard thickness is 1.5" to 2.5". Integral drain boards and undermount prep sinks are available. Bar overhangs and cantilevered sections are reinforced with embedded steel.

Outdoor Kitchen Design Styles

  • Modern minimalist — smooth gray concrete, clean returns, integrated LED lighting reveals
  • Mediterranean — warm sand tone, arched access doors, decorative corbels
  • Rustic / farmhouse — board-formed wood-grain texture, dark charcoal color
  • Traditional — raised panel surrounds, decorative banding, stone aggregate finish
  • Custom — match your home's exterior architectural language exactly

What We Produce

We produce the GFRC architectural elements: surround panels, bar tops, countertops, and decorative features. We do not supply appliances, plumbing, or gas lines — those are coordinated with your contractor. Our shop drawings show all cutout dimensions for grill, burner, sink, and access door openings.

Lions Precast Approach

Outdoor kitchen elements are produced in-house at our Fresno facility. For complex surround configurations, we produce a shop drawing package showing all panel dimensions, cutout locations, and installation sequence. Elements are delivered palletized and numbered. Most outdoor kitchen installations complete in 1–2 days with a two-person crew.
